Doctor Who The End Of Time cast list confirmed: with surprises in store!

by Simon Brew
*Spoilers! The full cast list for Doctor Who: The End Of Time has appeared, and it’s got a surprise or two in it too…*
The full cast listing for the forthcoming Doctor Who Christmas specials, The End Of Time Parts One and Two, has now been fully uploaded to IMDB, and it’s both and confirmed and revealed a few bits of casting information for the episodes.
David Tennant and Bernard Cribbins are taking centre stage for the two parter. But on top of them, among amongst the cast listing for part one are:
John Barrowman (Captain Jack)
Brian Cox (The Elder of the Ood)
Timothy Dalton (The Narrator)
Lachele Carl (Trinity Wells)
Jessica Hynes (Verity Newman)
David Harewood (Joshua Naismith)
Jacqueline King (Sylvia Noble)
Alexandra Moen (Lucy Saxon)
Sylvia Seymour (Miss Trefusis)
Catherine Tate (Donna Noble)
Russell Tovey (Midshipman Frame)
John Simm (The Master)
Jimmy Vee (Monster)
June Whitfield (Minnie Hopper)
Paul Kasey (Ood Sigma)
Silas Carson (Ood voice)
Karl Collins, Claire Bloom, Lawry Lewin, Sinead Keenan and Barry Howard (from Hi-De-Hi!) are all listed too, but in unnamed parts.
Bonus points to everyone who got Brian Cox’s involvement on the basis of his voiceover of the last trailer to The End Of Time. Just how Midshipman Frame fits into everything is intriguing, especially as he’s listed as appearing in both parts of the specials. Then we look at the additions to the cast for part two:
Roger Bailey (Time Lord)
Teresa Banham (Governor)
Brid Brennan (Visionary)
Camille Caduri (Jackie Tyler)
Tommy Knight (Luke Smith)
Billie Piper (Rose Tyler)
Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith)
Matt Smith (The Doctor)
Penelope Wilton (Harriet Jones)
Wait? Harriet Jones? We never actually saw her die did we? The camera cut away at the key moment as the Daleks shot?
Our guess is that she’s going to appear in some flashback moment, but wouldn’t it be great if she had something to do with the Time Lords all along? Or was one?
Note that there’s at least one more Time Lord in the cast now, too, on top of The Master and the Doctor. Plus, it’s being widely assumed that Timothy Dalton is a Time Lord too. Should be interesting! It also seems that we will get a regeneration sequence, given that Mr Smith is in the cast list. Most of the cast from part one is replicated in part two, although Brian Cox appears to be missing.
