Sandra Vergara to join Fright Night remake

Contrary to the 1985 cult classic it looks like Peter Vincent will have a girlfriend and assistant to help fight off the vampires and his own cowardice. While we figured the addition of British starlet Imogen Poots locked in the cast a few weeks back, Heat Vision is reporting that DreamWorks Pictures has also cast Sandra Vergara for their remake of Fright Night. Vergara ("Modern Family") will be playing opposite former Doctor Who David Tennant, who's set to play the role originally held by Roddy McDowall. Vergara joins Tennant, Poots, Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Director Craig Gillespie is leading the production from an updated script by Marti Noxon.

Plot Concept: Anton Yelchin plays Charlie, a teen convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. Toni Collette will play the teen's disbelieving mom, who falls under the vampire's spell. David Tennant will play Peter Vincent, a character who in the original movie was played by Roddy McDowall as the host of a late-night horror show. In the remake, he’s a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vergara plays his assistant and girlfriend. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he's less than helpful. Christopher Mintz-Plasse is playing Evil Ed, Yelchin's friend who feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire's coven.

I don't know who Sandra is, but if she's half as hot as Sophia ( her sister?), it sounds like welcome addition to the remake.
